I wasn't totally sold on the idea of seeing the Spider Man reboot until I read that it is not the same as the Tobey Maguire version. I liked those movies a lot and couldn't justify going to see a straight-up frame-by-frame remake of a movie that just came out 10 years ago-- that is hardly an antique, people. But I get that Tobey is done with the franchise and feels too old to be Spider Man now. OK, cool, fair enough. So I went with a fellow Marvel fan to see it and it wasn't bad. SPOILERS BELOW so do not continue if you don't want to know too much.
General thoughts:
He warned me that the romance was kinda bad. The "love" scenes did seem awkward and goofy. I said after the movie that it was like watching two goobers in love.
I like Denis Leary. But it is really hard for me to cope with the fact that he is in his 50s and is now playing the dad of a teenaged kid. Except that the teens in the film are actually children of the 80s and aren't much younger than me.
I like that the villain is The Lizard. Norman Osborn is discussed but they never show him. I am very curious to see if they will resurrect the Green Goblin. I loved Dafoe as the Goblin. He's such a great actor anyway and he is so good at being this sinister yet conflicted villain.

The part about "mantis-like sensuality" is well said!
My friend got up to have one last pee before the movie and said he thought we'd get a preview for Twilight that he could happily miss. LOL. Instead, this preview for Fun Size (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yz6AkPgY7Uw&feature=youtube_gdata_player) came on and, surprisingly, I thought it was pretty funny. I thought, "Well shit. I may actually have to go see that." Total Recall preview, next Bourne movie preview, and some bad Kevin James crap. No Batman this time. Even though I do not understand why they are remaking Total Recall, Colin Farrell looks great.
Overall thought is that it's worth seeing but it's no Avengers.
In closing, this is some good shit:
