Well . . . in light of the death toll in Hollywood, methinks this is NOT the day to discuss my friend’s theory of solar cleansing in regards to the massive heatwave happening right now. I will save that blog for tomorrow. It doesn’t seem appropriate to discuss in the same breath as Hollywood’s death count. When you read it later, you’ll understand why I say that.
Who saw this coming? MJ is dead?! What the hell? Did he fake this to get money? Is this like an Elvis or Tupac thing where he will be “sighted” in random places for years to come? And it sucks that the deaths of Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett have been totally forgotten in order to cover MJ’s situation. I think 62 is too damn young to die. I thought it was so tragic when I heard that Farrah’s father, a man in his 90s, was flying in to California to see her as she was clinging to life. I am sure no one who makes it to 90+ plans on having to bury one of their children. Very sad situation.
One thing I will say is that after the media experience when Princess Diana died, I knew as soon as the news outlets broke the story that MJ was in the hospital for cardiac arrest that, in actuality, he was already dead. When the media reported that Diana had been in a horrific car crash, she was already dead. And I still cannot believe Natasha Richardson died this year from a ski injury. When Ron said 2009 was going to be a bad year, who knew his prophecy could have been so far reaching. My parents talk a lot about 1968 being a year they remember as being one thing after another—constant discord, death, tragedy, violence, upheaval, etc. For people in my age group, 2009 may be the kind of year that is spoken of in that way. The economy still sucks; corporations that once were so strong have asked for bailouts and/or declared bankruptcy; corruption seems to be exposed constantly; the unemployment rate is high and many people are suffering; the heat is unbearable in many parts of the country (including Oklahoma) and people are dying from it. Supposedly, there are “green shoots” in the economy and some say there are signs of improvement.
I certainly hope so.
