SOLAR CLEANSING

I guess there is no politically correct time to tell the story of solar cleansing since this appears to be the summer of death. Heatwave plus deathwave. How wonderful. :-/ I guess now it is wiping out B-list and below celebs since Billy Mays and Fred Travelena have passed.


A week or two back when the temperatures were in the 100s, I was talking to my friend Bill and we were discussing how the gradual build up to the dog days of summer has been skipped this year. It’s gone rapidly from being in the 40s overnight to being 80 overnight and 100 during the day with heat indices that kill people. In what was a joking, sarcastic statement, he said something that totally cracked me up. And in a weird way, is nearly proving to be true.

“The earth will become too hot for humans to live aboveground. We will all have to go underground if we want to survive. We will have to make a new society underground. This is solar cleansing, this is nature’s way. This is the way the earth is removing undesirables: deadly, lethal heat.”

Of course this was all said in satire (I want to be very clear on that point lest we seem like Nazis) and it was really, really funny to me. Still is. Each time I walk out and nearly roast to death I think of Bill’s theory of solar cleansing.


I would like to write more but this week like the last 2 before it is busy as hell. I feel like I barely have time to sleep before I have to get up and start the cycle over again. But I am so glad for it. I was deeply worried that our busy season would never start and I would be scraping for extree money. It’s tiring but it’s the best possible form of being exhausted.
