Count Trumpula

Mu-hu-hu-ha-ha. The Apprentice.

I love that SNL sketch about Count Trumpula running a Halloween ad for The Apprentice. Darrell Hammond does such a fantastic Trump impression. I cannot believe that this was from an episode in 2004. It is still so clear in my mind that it does not seem like it could possibly be 4 years old. Anyway, I was thinking about Count Trumpula because Trump was on David Letterman earlier this month breaking it the fuck down. That is one of the things-- I think like most people who enjoy Donald Trump-- that I relate to the best: being honest. People can be so damn fake, equivocating and waffling around. Trump gives it to you straight. He has become a staple in my own personal language. I can't list how many times I've referred to Trumping someone (and not in the lowercase sense of the word as with "trump," I mean it in very much in the uppercase sense of being specific to the Donald) or "pulling a Donald Trump." Sometimes in life, you gotta be bull-headed to get what you want. Don't take "no" for an answer. Plow ahead and say, "This is how it's gonna go down: you are gonna do x, y and z for me by this deadline, period." It's a shame that when men do that, it's considered a sign of strength, testosterone, virility, power. When a woman does it, she's a bitch. Oh well; I'd rather be a bad-ass bitch laughing all the way to the bank and getting what she wants than being used as a doormat. But I digress. My point in discussing Count Trumpula is that, in all this hubbub about the current presidential election, the only person I have heard breaking it the fuck down is Donald Trump. I caught part of his interview on Letterman and I was blown away-- in a positive sense. He was talking about how distressing it is that so many foreign investors are buying up American properties, how unfair and unfortunate it is that we are spending shitloads of money in Iraq while abandoning our own people who are suffering and struggling, how we need to turn this mess around soon or America will no longer have any amount of respect on a global scale and will no longer be considered a superpower. Thank you very much, Donald Trump, for stating what needs to be said. I don't give a fuck about either McCain or Obama, quite frankly. I will not be voting for either one of them. I vote, to be clear about that, but I often find myself voting for third-party candidates that better represent my views. Larry Elder wrote a book called The Ten Things You Can't Say in America and one of them was that there's only a dime's worth of difference between Democrats and Republicans. Touche, Larry Elder, touche. I am registered as an Independent and one of the reasons for that is because I do not feel adequately represented by either of the major parties. They both seem to be pretty damn good at making the government bigger and bigger while running less and less efficiently. Meanwhile, while the two major candidates are sparring back-and-forth, Trump is on TV cutting through the bullshit. I had to write a blog about it because I felt like someone out there needed to give him props.

On a less serious note, you must watch Greg B's comedy video on God's hotel lobby. So funny and so true. Couldn't have said it better myself:
