Not because I have been partying but because I was stricken with one of the worst if not *the* worst migraine headache I have ever had. I got so sick tonight. Sick to the point where it scared me and made me contemplate going to the ER. Not a fun experience. I am sitting here resting in the dark. I'm not quite ready to go to sleep yet, I guess because I want to be sure I'm actually well before I fall asleep. I had to finally mow the lawn this afternoon after putting it off for the last couple of weeks. I was getting tons of weed clumps and wildflowers and I'd decided this week that if the weather was nice, I would get out and take care of everything on Saturday afternoon. I think everyone else in my neighborhood had the same idea because a lot of us were out working in the yards today. There was dust and pollen flying around in the air and I figured I would have a bad sinus headache from it, which I did. So I took some Tylenol Sinus medicine and had a nap. After I woke up, I felt better. So a friend and I went to the movies (had a double feature of The Ruins and Leatherheads, which was an odd combo, but not altogether bad). I was fine during The Ruins but after we got in Leatherheads, my Tylenol wore off and I felt a migraine coming on. In the span of about 15 minutes, my head was pounding, I had pain radiating down into my neck and shoulders, I was nauseous and every beam of light and every twinge of sound felt like I was being beaten across the brains. I toughed it out for the whole movie but I regret having done that. The film was good, don't get me wrong on that account, but damn, by the time it was over, I was ILL. The thought had occurred to me to excuse myself and let my friend enjoy the movie while I went to the pharmacy to get meds. But I worried that I might not make it back in time and she'd be stranded or the theater might not want to let me back in the auditorium. So I sat there in agony. By the time we got out, I felt like I could not drive fast enough. Once I got in the house, I could not get my nightgown on fast enough and choke down a pain pill fast enough. I sat in the dark and quiet and ate some food to avoid the dry heaves. After 30 minutes or so, the medicine kicked in and took the edge off. But it was a good 2 or 3 hours before I finally felt relieved enough to relax. I got on WebMD to look up the signs of when a person should go to the hospital over a headache. I was in that much pain. Even when you have migraines periodically and you know what they feel like, when you get one that is so bad you feel like you are dying, it's still a scary experience. With any luck, I'll be able to fall asleep soon and the last little bit of pain and pressure I have will go back to Hell from whence it came.
