Captain America 2 Review

So CA2 has a political thriller vibe, which I like. I went on Friday night and was tired beyond belief, but it held my attention. Both Cap and Black Widow look great and make a great team. (ScarJo needs her own movie. And so does Hawkeye. Let's make that happen, people.) Robert Redford is fabulous as the government agent / not-so-secret Hydra shill. I was wondering how they would handle Dr. Zola's MODOK and it was interesting that they chose a computer system in a bunker. I mean, I guess that's all they had access to back in the day, but at some point, wouldn't you upgrade?

Things I liked:

I want to be Falcon. That is a bad-ass. I liked everything about him, including the mechanized wings. Hope to see more of him.

The end scene of Bucky going to the museum to piece things together.

The conflict that Cap has. The world is different, the government is different, SHIELD is different. I like that he wonders if he still wants to be part of all this. It makes sense. You sort of imagine at some point down the road, he's going to want to retire and either do charity work or fade into obscurity. He's just a kid from Brooklyn, after all.

Black Widow. Girls can kick ass, too.

Things I was "meh" about:

The mid-credits scene would be hella confusing if you didn't know about Baron Von Strucker, Quicksilver, or the Scarlet Witch.

The reference to Dr. Strange was so fast you could miss it.

I also wanted Robert Redford to rip his face off and be Hugo Weaving!

I wish Dr. Zola's role had been bigger.

At times, the pacing felt slow, but that is more an issue of how exhausted I was than anything else.


Great movie, definitely enjoyed it. Better than IM3. I would put it a little above even with Thor 2. Now we wait for GOTG!
